Rap superstar 50 Cent has been humbled by a recent trip to war-torn Kosovo, because witnessing the country's extreme poverty first-hand has made him more appreciative of his good fortune. He was surprised with the level of local talent Rap bands.
The In Da Club hit-maker admits he was surprised by the reaction of fans in Kosovo as the new nation in Eastern Europe as they were happy just to see a star in their presence, and the experience has left a lasting impression on the rapper.
50 Cent tells Vibe magazine, "There were people saying, 'I feel free.' I'm like, 'What'd he say?' ...They just want to touch you and say, 'I feel free'.
"In that environment, they struggle for things that were within the lifestyle of America. So to have an American artist at that point, it gave them a feeling of freedom. Get Rich Or Die Tryin
"The experience of being in different places and identifying with people's struggles on different levels starts to shape you in a different way. When you are in third world countries, it makes what you thought was hard in the 'hood look like you should shut up. It indicates that you should be thankful. You shouldn't complain as much. Because what you think is bad isn’t as bad as it can be."
